good job cordelia!!   i really think starting on a ninja 250, a gs500, or an sv650 is really the best way to go.  they can be found in good shape in your price range, and you can sell them for what you paid.   a bike doesn't have to be new and motogp-fast to be fun (even though most guys with small wankers will try to convince you otherwise....)
that's crescent fresh...
still down here dancing with the GrooGrux King...
if you think loud pipes save lives, imagine what learning how to ride could do...

lol thanks everyone!!!
and thanks for the bike suggestions!

i like the r6 but his price is firm. the bike's got lots of miles on it. i'd want to offer him 1.7 but i doubt he'd take it.

hopefully, the colder it gets the more deals i'll see ;)   i'm going to mission motorsports today just for fun so i can sit on bikes and imagine myself riding LOL.....wait, im going to tease myself! :'(
oh well! im goin anyhow ;D

Cash in hand changes lots of minds. Every time I sell a bike I end up getting so frustrated with looky loos and wanna be test riders lowballing me that once I saw cash I said F it just take it and let me be done.  If it just needs a front tire I got a couple extra dunlops but just tell the guy new tires end up being over $100 + mounting, etc. He'd prolly go down to $2k just start lower

thats some pretty good pics, the cbr seems like a good deal for the low mileage, and the r6 is nice

brochaos is right, i am a new rider myself, riding for about 5-6 months, and i picked up a 99 gs500e, for 2600(wit tax from dealer), my bike was absolutely perfect for me to learn and start on, i ride the canyons and long distance rides, and i can easily hang with all of my homies that have 600, 750, and 1000, and i have also taught one of my friends how to ride on my bike, so i would highly recommend a bike like mine, or a sv650 :29:

I got my first bike for $700.  It got me to work and back and through my intitial learning phase just fine until I blew a rod going XXXmph daily on the freeway for over a month.

I recall being much faster than you last time we rode.  Then again that was a while ago maybe you've improved.

last time was when you met me at sbk and we rode down to mission viejo or lake forest or something around there.  you rode like a snail.  my bike kept falling asleep I had to pour a redbull into the tank.
