I bought my bike used and it didn't come with a manual, should i just buy one from eBay?  The other day the oil light came on, and a friend put oil for me, but I don't see the oil gage anywhere, and don't know what type of oil to put.

Just do it yourself....they don't do much on the 4000 mile service...big intervals are 8000 and 16000.  My bike is an 06 @ 25k and still pumping...hasn't been at the dealer since 1k....valves are still good.  Just makes sure you can hear the valves tick....LOL

You can use Shell Rotella T 5w-40 full synthetic that you can get at walmart...it's the blue bottle.

I don't see the oil window like the window on the other side with the coolant. I see the dipstick, but don't know how much to put in and what type of oil.

Do you have an owners manual?

I run 10-40 in mine, you can get it at any motorcycle shop (just make sure you don't pick up something special like a V-twin formula, cause I did that once)

you can probably get the shop manual off of the yamaha forums, at least I got mine form the gixxer forum, they have them for almost every year

note here that the shop manual is differnt than the user manual, it has a lot more detailed information, and can guide you and help you take your whole bike appart
