Triumph Sprint ST recall
« on: 11/06/09 05:29PM »
Model:  2005-2009 Sprint ST 1050
Component: Suspension
Potential number of units affected:  2849
Summary:  Tirumph is recalling certain model year 2005 through 2009 Sprint ST 1050 motorcycles manufactured from November 4 2004 through September 2009.  The rear suspension drag link assembly in these motorcycles can fracture due to corrosion.
Consequence:  In the event of a fracture, part of the suspension will drop, causing the rear tire mudguard to contact the rear tire, which could cause a crash.
Remedy:  Triumph will notify owners and repair the motorcycles free of charge.  The recall is expected to begin during October 2009.  Owners may contact Triumph at 678-539-8777.
Notes:  Triumph's recall campaign n is SB 403
NHTSA campaign ID number:  09V378000

"due to corrosion".

Reminds me of the saying in the military..."remember, your gun was built by the lowest bidder".

Actually, it's "ALL YOUR EQUIPMENT was made by the lowest bidder..."
"You've done nothing for which you should be ashamed."

"I've done nothing, and for that I AM ashamed."

typical Triumph.

So if it were typical Japanese manufacturer it would take about 40 deaths and a Congressional hearing for them to issue a recall?
