This weekend...

Adjusted my clutch, at which point the adjuster broke, and revealed a very frayed clutch cable, so the bike is parked for a few days. However, I also started painting a helmet...

Masking for the first color:

First color on:

Beginning the second color:

Third color on:

Masking removed:

First coat of Clear applied:

One coat of clear left to be applied, and re-assembly.

Tried to clean off some tape goo with the reducer, which stripped off a little of the purple near the tail... :( But I'm leaving it. Not bad for a nearly 25 year hiatus from using an airbrush.
Not bad at all sir! Always nice to be able to do stuff yourself, particularly when it's something that requires some skill.

On a side note, is there anyone who would be willing to trailer my bike from my place in LB (Bixby Park) to SuperChicken? Not sure I trust AAA even though I have towing for moto as part of my membership...

Why not just fix the clutch cable yourself instead of having it towed over?  Save money?

Time (I don't get home until after 6 while driving a car), and space (parked on a sidewalk next to the building doesn't leave much room).

I may yet do it. But the car I'm driving guzzles gas at a rate that having him do the install is actually cheaper than the extra 2-4 days of commuting by SUV...

There is a AAA approved place in OC that specializes in motorcycle towing.  I've used them before.  You just fax in a form to AAA after the tow is complete.

Thanks! So, you have to pay for the tow up front, and then get re-imbursed?

Yep - just called, and it's pay up front and get re-imbursed... Decisions decisions.

FYI - it's 42 miles, and $212 from Long Beach to Mission Viejo.

Are you just swapping a clutch cable?

If so, you're spending more time working on logistics than it takes to do the cable. Cable routing on the SV can't be that bad, can it?

I can't see it taking longer than 20 minutes, even if you aren't the wrenching type.

Clutch cable and remove/replace the adjuster (which broke off leaving bits inside the lever mount.) I think the adjuster is going to be the hard part, and if you saw the space I have to work on it in you'd understand... I'll see if I can get a picture tonight.

Finished, except for transfering my Senna comm gear over.

Debating whether or not to put the Scorpion logo emblem back on the brow.

Very nice job.  Don't put stickers on it.

You should do this on the side and get paid for it.

Nice job on the helmet!

As far as the clutch cable goes, you should be able to find a closer place to have the work done. It's pretty basic so they can't screw that up too badly.

I have the 200mi tow with AAA btw; I believe standard is only 7mi.

Took the first steps of making my 02 VFR more touring oriented. Mounted a GPS as well as dual USB voltmeter.

Heading up to Pismo Beach tomorrow for an overnight to test it out!

Cool!

The only other mod needed might be a Corbin seat.  I did 300-plus mile days on mine with no problem, though.

Edit - Here are a few pics from a recent ride.  The Blue Ridge Parkway and the French Broad river.

Ride on,

J~

Lucky me, the bike came with a Corbin seat, as well as a set of 3/4" bar risers that are nice at my height.

The fall colors look amazing!

Got to test out the GPS setup on an overnight trip to Pismo! It was nice not having to think about what road I'm taking where, so I could focus on riding and enjoying the scenery!

First notable stop after we rode over Highway 33 (amazing road) was a hole in the wall called The Place. Super basic burgers, but the in-house Root Beer is to die for!

Made it to Pismo in-time to get checked in the Motel and to get to the pier  for the sunset.

This guy was giving me the stink eye.

Took 154 to Santa Barbra

Where there was a nice view

These are some gorgeous pics, Kenny. How was the traffic when you went? And what time (ish) was it?
