Noobie Ride 29 - 2/20
« on: 01/30/11 09:35PM »
The time has come! The first Noobie Ride of the year is upon us.

Join us for our monthly 'meet and greet' style ride. This ride is a special invitation to all the newly registered members (Noobies) and current members to come out and meet other OC MOTO members at a nice cruise and lunch event. If you're a new motorcycle rider please PM me if you have questions about riding in groups.

We will start at the Tustin Marketplace and head down Santiago Canyon -> Live Oak -> Crown Valley -> Smokey's BBQ (Dana Point).

WHERE: Tustin Market Place (in front of Sports Authority) Map
DATE: Sunday 2/20
WHEN: 10:00am (kick stands up 10:30 sharp)
RIDE PACE: Easy
CHATTERBOX: Ch 12 group 00

WARNING: Although it is a 'Noobie' ride, it implies you know how to operate your motorcycle (i.e., you're able to operate the bike well in large groups). It also implies you can ride responsibly with a large group, i.e. no wheelies, showing off, etc.

Things to remember for this ride:
  • This will be a slow, relaxed, and safe ride.
  • The goal is to stay together as a group as much as possible
  • No stunting of any kind will be tolerated
  • No lane splitting (this is so the group can stay together)
  • Staggered riding on PCH/Santiago/Surface Roads, single file in Live Oak
  • Safe Riding is key, please keep a safe distance from the motorcycle in front of you. (Diagram)
  • Pack in tight at stops and red lights.
  • Do not pass the leaders or sweepers. Stay in formation.
  • If you fall behind due to lights or any other issues, don't worry, there will be sweepers throughout the group.
  • If a rider pulls off the side of the road, crashes, etc. DO NOT pull over with them. Let the sweepers take care of it.
  • Do not rev your engines, trust me, in a group this large, everyone can see you. No need to rev engines. We get notices from the Police Departments.
  • Come to the meet point FUELED UP. There is a Shell station up Jamboree, however, we won't be making any stops once we depart. Ride length is just over 40 miles.
  • Please have all your paperwork in order. M1 or permit, motorcycle insurance.
  • We will be using some basic hand signals during the ride, here are some universal hand signals to review if you are not familiar:

I shall put this as a maybe for two reasons:
1. My leg is healing fast but not sure it will be that fast
2. My bike is coming together fast but not sure it will be registered that fast hehe

If nothing else comes up that weekend, I'm in.  I'd be up for a caravan from the Inland Empire area.

This time, I will not drop my bike. *crosses fingers*

Chris, and kesmo, we usually meet at the 76/Jiffy Lube on Bellflower/PCH/7th. I'm sure Marcel and Joey will be down to roll.

Rob

There is often an Ortega pre-ride to these.  I join at the Elsinore end.  Tends to be a bit more aggressive than the Noobie Ride  ;D

Pre-ride from Carl's Junior at The Block at Orange, as usual... stay tuned for details.   :31:

(and one from Fountain Valley, too... standby...)

RickRacer... I'd be up for that!  Was thinking when I posted that I'd probably do an Ortega run on the way to or from the ride (or both).
