in fairness though, it is OBO so anyone could submit a different offer. It is a valid seller strategy to try to anchor high so as to minimize lowball counter-offers. It doesn't mean it will work, or help sell the bike any better, but it is a valid seller strategy.

It's a good looking bike, that's for sure, plus the guy is going off to the Army to help defend our freedom. Good Luck with Sale.

Better off selling all the custom stuff, and sell the bike stock, He'll get way more $$$$.  Its not like dismantling a car!

paint job killed the bike. If you do custom, you looking for a custom 'buyer'. Take the Millage and Year, everything else is a gimie.

Considering I got my 05' R1 (the same basically as an 06' except the swing arm is slightly longer,) with 3,600 miles, showroom condition for $5,000 OTD...
I think a lot of people either price bikes as to what they still owe on them, or worse, get their impressions from the insanity on Craigslist, where most bikes dirt or street, are over priced by thousands of dollars. Many add up all their options without realizing $5k in upgrades to a buyer is only worth about $300-$500 at most. This has been the case with race cars, street rods, Harleys for 50 years. One can buy a full blown Stock car sled, or a pro dragster for about $30,000 or less.

Unfortunately to the un-informed, CL/Cycletrader prices give the wrong impression. I typically see $1,800 sportbikes listed at $3,000 or more, and $4,500 bikes priced at $6,500 or higher. These seem typical examples, such as people listing 07' or 08's (superbikes not the 600's) at $8,500-$9,000 when one can easily get an 09' with low miles or brand spanking new, with exhaust, for the exact same price as people are asking for these older bikes.

Dealers are begging buyers to pop for a brand new superbike class ride (09's-10's) for $9,300.

I believe Jerome got mid $7,000's for his 2009 CBR1000RR. It was mint with great miles. I know the owner of a local Harley shop where he had quite a few Arlen Ness, or Jesse James choppers with retail prices well north of $50,000. He disclosed to me he couldn't sell a single one for anything higher than $20k, well below the cost of the parts alone. This was when the economy was doing decently well!

Personally I like the paint on this R6 by the way.

Or maybe there's some really good Skunk bud being smoked out there.

common guys. its his thread and he has the right to ask for whatever price he desires.... if you dont like it, leave it. simple.

as someone said, it is a bit over priced, ok its been said, stop dwelling on it.

whats the worst that could happen? him not selling it at 6500?

good luck with the sale man.

I think the foundation for disparaging remarks regarding price stems from older riders that have seen way too many newbies get the wrong impression about values, then get sucker punched in their first vehicle. Doesn't matter if its a boat, bike, car, or plane. I think most of us whom have been into a certain sport for more than a few years have all met a few newly Christened, that deflated like a balloon emotionally, when experienced people frown on a deal they got. "Raped" comes to mind. I am not talking about over paying by a few hundred. I am talking significant money. Someone who gets taken for a grand or more over market for example, as nearly all the Craiglist vehicles are, from Quads to Rv's.
I can't tell you the number of people whom I have met who were soured with a bad buy.

The main problem is when one looks at 3 pages of ad's where 90% of the vehicles are seriously out of whack; Then the inexperienced buyer gets an "impression" about these vehicles that is false. They buy based on impression. The Harley market is the best example of all. Most of the machines that are priced at $13,000-$15,000 are worth significantly under $10,000. These ads have saturated Cycletrader and CL for over a decade. A lot of newbie's get into HD's. Guess what happens when they search in these places for 6 months to a year before they purchase? They feel real confident when they plop down a large amount of cash. Don't bat an eye usually. Then when they try to sell, usually in a time of financial difficulty, guess what happens?

Europe is one of the few places I have seen fairly accurate asking prices. Here, its grab what you can.
