I've always heard about this, but my 08 doesn't burn a drop.. I always thought that maybe it could have been something to do with peoples break ins..
:43: The oil burning issue usually begins around 12,000 miles. Ksor22, Did you ever get a Honda??? :43:

Welcome.
Don't worry about the oil burning issues you have heard from others unless of course you have the problem then go through the inspection process at a certified Honda Dealer.  If you do have the problem, it may take you two or three tries (inspections)  before Honda approves the repairs but they do know that some bikes have the issue with the misfitted piston rings.

I met a owner of a new 09 up at Newcombs Ranch in the summer of 09,who was hopping mad about oil leaking out of his case cover and wondering why the dealer did'nt catch it,also something to do with his brother working there!Only oil leak I've ever heard of on a CBR1000RR.
I purchased my 09 Repsol in april of 09 and during the past 48,000 miles (just rolled over today).I've only had to top off the oil when checked at each 500 mile chain clean, lube and/or adjust. My mechanic assures me I don't have a "oil burner".

Thanks everyone for the posts. Since my accident in September i decided my New Years Resolution should be to focus on getting my studies done (22 yr old), than rush to jump back on the saddle. Needless to say i'm more than missing the ride..... I'm  back to searching but the price tags people are throwing on some bikes are like "Da Fuq?"

The '08 has a problem with the rings which causes it to burn oil. Honda has been repairing the problem by putting in new rings. I had mine done about 2 months ago. It stopped burning oil, completely. :17:

was this covered as part of a recall??

Hey guys, I have a 08 CBR1000rr, I am due for a valve clearance at 16000 miles, which of the shops listed on this site is most familiar with honda bikes? Im in HB. I want to avoid going to the dealer.
btw. I notice that my engine speed is dropping off quickly under 6000 rpm. I am going to be replacing my air filter so that may help. Thanks guys,
