2012 CBR1000RR Front End on a 2008 CBR?
« on: 11/29/11 12:04AM »
Do you guys think I can slap on a 2012 front end to my 2008? Might be a project, but it seems like the frame for the 2012 looks about the same still!

I might consider slapping an OEM 2012 front end.

call a dealer and/or go in and check it out. i think getting an in person view of it will help. sounds like a sick idea though dude.

I'd be more concerned about oil consumption on your year's bike.  Front end problems/handling wasn't an issue from what I've read.  Why waste the money?

front ends wrecked

As for oil consumption, I am not too worried about that, since topping it off every now and then doesn't bother me too much. probably has some power loss but its more than enough!

the new big piston end isnt as good as the currant one on your bike. put a 08-11 front end on it.

^^^ There you have it, straight from the professional.  Besides, newer part numbers tend to be more expensive.  More cost with less performance seems counterproductive!

I guess Ill stick with my old front end, but I like the new rims! I might just get the new rims then.

I think I might still dig the 08-11 front end look too

now as for stock suspension vs aftermarket suspension (ex: ohlins)
stock brakes vs aftermarket brakes (ex: brembo)

are these worth it?

i just spent all last weekend on the 2012 CBR1000rr.

the new rims should fit your front end. should just swap over. not %100 sure but almost positive.

yes they are worth it if done correctly

I was thinking about getting aftermarket suspension and brake kit. plus 2012 front/rear rims. and as for the front plastics, I might just stick with the 08-11 look, but the 12 looks neat and different.

Definitly looks cool with the new fork caps. the rest is all the same though but the wheels.

I have never had the oil consupmtion problem with my bike and I have an 08.  I was concerned that it wasn't burning enough oil!

You can't hit the asphalt and then not expect it to hit you back!

I like the wheels on the 2012 but most likely wont fit my 07. Looks like I may have to go with PVM 7 spoke or some CZ V track  :3:

:43: Nice looking bike Eric!   You three are just lucky dogs. I did hear that the later model '08's had different rings installed to prevent the problem... or maybe you three ARE just Lucky Dogs! :17:
