Mine cbr600rr 2005 vs Friend cbr600rr 2010
« on: 01/30/12 11:41AM »
Hi to all

I rode my friend's bike (Purchase NEW) 2010 cbr600rr (non abs) around the block and i feel like his bike is a lot easier to lean compared to my bike. I currently ride (Purchased used) 2005 cbr600rr.

Is there anyone that live close by SONIC in LAKE FOREST, CA that have the same exact year and bike that can test ride my bike and see if its not just me and (if possible ride your bike)

I would prefer someone that been riding for 1+ year

Thanks, :43:
James

What kind of tires are you using compared to the new bike? It could be as simple as that. Then there's suspension set up...
Maybe it's time to get your forks/rear shock serviced. How many miles do you have on your bike?
You might even try duplicating your friends suspension settings if you like the way his feels.

Also, comparing a 05' to a 10' could be a contributing factor considering the changes that were made in the models. 05'-06' weighs about 20 lbs more than 07'+

thats what i was going to say. you are comparing bikes that are 5+ years different in age. things have changed heavy in those years dude. dont think to deep into this one...

Yup. I daily rode my 05 cbr600rr and whenever I ride on a 07+ Cbr600rr the difference is noticeable. It almost feels like it's thinner, but it definitely does weigh less.

But 07+ actually lost hp, compared to 05-06 models.

And in my opinion, 05-06 was the best looking cbr600rr so far.. The nose duct looks silly to me on the 07+.. I'm sure it's functional.. But I don't like it. Haha

And also tires and all that stuff too could have something to do about it.

Thanks for all the reply

I am assuming my setting on my bike are stock i haven't  touch them since i got my bike and the same for my friend's bike.
My mileage on my bike is only 8,000

Not sure what i have on the front tire but i replace my rear tire with https://www.denniskirk.com/dunlop/rear-sportmax-q2-180-55zr-17-blackwall-tire.p543809.prd

Maybe i should rephrase my questions

My bike take more turning effort on the handlebars to make the bike lean over more than my friends bike

not sure if that is better   :-\

+1  Sounds like you got some flat tires.  Sounds like you want some tires that are more triangular in shape.  Check out the 2CT tires.  They last about 3k miles.
The speedometer only serves as a distraction.

Not meaning to hijack but I need  my suspension set up too but I need to wait on my new fairings to get in after she was nocked over cause I don't mind riding her naked but she feels exposed. ;D  :43:

Tires, suspension all plays a major part in how the bike reacts...

I remember after Tige adjusted my suspension for the first time, my bike felt much much smoother through road bumps.  Although it became a bit more difficult to lean after the adjustment but it was a more stable lean through the turn and not sketchy as it was.

A while later, I replaced tires to new Dunlop Q2s and the bike felt easier to lean again...

I'm gonna say you should definitely have the suspension tuned to your weight and riding style.. it makes a huge difference.

I held off on changing my back tire for a while... it was getting pretty dangerous riding like that, so I went and bought a new pair of Q2's., and wow, what a difference.  The bike felt completely different...  from making a small turn into my parking spot at home or leaning into turn out on the road.  My buddy told me that tires would making a huge difference, and wow he was soooo right.
