My wife caught the tail end of this news segment last night! It's on the news finally!

Good find!  Here's the segment.

They chose to use the worst of us to paint the rest of us.  Leave a comment!

Definitely a good find.

Unfortunately, MOST riders represent the "worst" of motorcyclists. There are very few of us who practice safe intelligent riding on the streets.

I don't understand why this suddenly seems to have become such a hot issue.  I at least understand the recent gun control debate but what has precipitated this?
Owning a liter bike is like owning a pet tiger. If you know it's a tiger and you treat it like it's a tiger you'll probably be OK. If you start treating it like a house cat then it will likely maul you, possibly to death.

I've got a suggestion: How about not posting videos when one is not following CHP guidelines!  One, it's incriminating, and two, it gives the douchebags in the media fuel for their fire.

I agree.  I'm very careful about what goes on youtube.

I'm glad a major news channel did a story on this.  Get the word out that it IS legal.  Most people I know think it is illegal and I get the "Your going to kill yourself" speech.
Your bike must be fast, cuz you were haulin' ass when I passed you!!

Yep, only in Cali.  People in other parts of the country think we're crazy.  Of course, I gotta believe most California cagers also think we're crazy.

FWIW, California is not the only "tyrannic" state.  For example, there are cities in Illinois that charge an annual fee for each car you have, and require hard-wired smoke detectors in every home, among other things.  Every place has its ups and downs.

This news story is more like a backhanded compliment such as "Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?  ...because it looks like you landed on your face".  Yes, it raises awareness for cagers, but at the expense of putting a bug in their ear that lane splitting should be illegal.  I'm sure a bill to ban splitting will be up for votes in the legislature again in the near future.  :13:

:26: I wonder if it would even be worth riding if this law passed.  Our chances of us being rear ended by some idiot texting or on the cell phone increases.   :13:

I love the quote "if you don't look and he zips by you, you could kill him"

Maybe you should LOOK where you're driving then.

If so, how the hell was that managed in this tyrannic state?!

Have you seen the traffic congestion in Cali? If we weren't allowed to split there'd probably be a lot of overheated bikes on the side of the road.  :20:

I say we bombard their facebook page too:  https://www.facebook.com/CBSLA    You don't have to like their page to comment.  Scroll down a little and you can find the story.

Here's the direct link if anyone is interested.
