I tried ordering a sound suppression piece for my wife's bike (it's really loud), and was not able to order it on line. I was not able to select California. I sent them an email asking which products are compliant in CA? Below is their response... WTH?

Two Brothers Racing received a cease and desist letter from the California Air Resources Board today.

The state of California regulates motorcycle aftermarket parts that have the potential to impact emissions.  Until further notice, Two Brothers Racing is unable to sell our products to anyone in the state of California due to the enforcement of these regulations by the California Air Resources Board.

This is sad news especially for an OC-based company.  No wonder more companies are moving out of state!  :13:

Sheesh!

I'd been wondering when they'd get to us...  Now I know.

Anyone know what percentage of their sales are made in California?

The retailers will probably sell their remaining stock while they still can.

This is probably for existing items in stock.  Once they sell out it may be next to impossible to buy Two Bros. exhausts, then again there's the black market... Err, eBay!

From what I can tell, they've begun to enforce the following -  http://www.arb.ca.gov/regact/2008/amhmc08/hmctp.pdf  Although it dates to 2008...

It's quite an interesting read.  I imagine that 2-Bros and any other local manufacturers will be relocating to Texas sometime soon.  Much like what has happened with Magpul and Hi-Viz leaving Colorado.

At the risk of sounding pedantic...  Who is John Galt?

That sucks! California has way too many rules and their might be a chance to that we would have to smog our motorcycles too.  If I was able to to afford moving out of stae I would.

I own a 2007 Dodge caliber and the catalytic converter is faulty, I tried ordering out of state and no luck.  Converter is a dealer only part, wgich will set me back at 980.00.  :13:

As I stated on FB..  CA is just biting its own nose in spite of itself. They should fix all the city/ school buses to half of what the pollute and right then and there we will have a better environment that doesn't affect our wallet but the better allocates the city's funding. Also allows businesses to profit, employ and pay taxes. It's a shame because Two Bro's is a great company that employes over a few hands full of good people.. So if there out of a job.. they will get unemployment witch is money that could be used to fix the damn buses in the first place.. this stuff aggravates me. I pulling for the favor of Two Bros to overcome this.

^^^ A lot of the CA city trucks and buses and private school buses are running CNG now.

The newer short buses are running regular gas vs diesel which the older buses ran.

Interesting that TBR still shows on their website that they have lots of dealers in California.  When I worked there, California was the single biggest market, and I'm sure it still is.  I wonder if they just won't sell to retail customers in California.  It looks like we can still buy their products at dealers, and online places like Bike Bandit.  The majority of their business is not retail, but to dealers and distributors. Maybe CARB has a problem with them selling to retail customers, but not to dealers.  Who knows.

This totally sucks, of course, but management at TBR saw this coming a long time ago.  They've diversified, and now do a lot of business selling telephone cases.

And for those of you who say you're going to move if this BS continues, I suggest packing your boxes, because the BS ain't gonna end any time soon.

lawmakers are living in the 50s...we WILL have our exhausts one way or the other, but with this being enforced that "other way" means our money will go out of state.

I blame the HD/straight pipes crowd for rattling the windows of blue hairs with money and influence

Yeah, Nick...  It's my understanding that all aftermarket exhausts come with a blame-shifter pre-installed.

From what I'm finding out from a shop owner, this has been going on for a while.

CARB has sent cease and desist letters to major distributors demanding to either pay multi million dollar fines or comply with releasing information on who the leading dealers in aftermarket exhausts were. Last year OC Harley stopped selling aftermarket exhausts unless they were the own motor co's manufacturing. Bert's, chaparral, and most big box stores have already been effected with their customers alike. In a sad harrowing reality, what you are seeing isn't the beginning as this has been in process, but this definitely is not the end. It will effect the industry drastically

Just my experience , but in a local industry that isn't exactly thriving- many are turning a cold shoulder and trying to focus on moving on. Do the bare minimum to get CARB off our backs and focus on survival. Just this weekend Performance Motorsports closed their doors, and the possibility of more of the like is very high. Dealers are becoming sparse, and this definitely doesn't help. Unfortunately, nobody can afford to stand up and draw unwanted attention in a war that dealers cannot win. Redirection of focus for most seems to be the most logical way of dealing, but I think it has greatly contributed to the public not really being made aware of the issue.

I'm surprised that protest rides have not yet been organized.

Wow...sorry I haven't read up on this, but does this mean that unless you order your exhaust to go out of state, you can't get one?  Just thinking if I had to, have it shipped to a friend in AZ or NV?  Unless that's not an option... :-\
