Hey guys, please don't dismiss me as I know this has already been discussed on multiple forums but I still don't understand.  I have read them and still can't decide what's going on.  I just traded a guy for this 2001 R6 and he told me the clutch was slipping and I definitely got played for a fool.  The clutch definitely isn't slipping.  When I ride in 2nd gear, it's like the second I get on the throttle it will pop into neutral.  Every other gear seems to ride fine, and it will down shift fine.... maybe a little rough, but still downshifts. I couldn't find any other posts that seemed to explain that exact scenario. The bike has 17,500 miles on it. Some things I have run across include transmission drum, 2nd gear dogs, and detent spring.  Hoping its the spring, because that's the cheapest.  Can someone let me know if I'm F****ed or what they think it is? I've worked on bikes and cars minimally, never dealt with gear work but I have some friends that are fairly fluent in bike mechanic work so if I can get an idea where to start I'll recruit some help and see what we can do.

Thanks a lot, any help is much appreciated.

Bummer.  You need a mechanic.

As above, but didn't you post this already? Everyone agreed it's something inside the tranny and you need to drop the motor and get it cracked open.

Here's your old thread. It's not a good idea to double post.
