Plasti Dip - Who's used it?

Anyone have any experience this stuff on their bike/car yet?

Ive never used it myself, but ive seen other people use it. and it looks good for a bit, but the stuff you touch all the time (gas tank, helmet, door, sunglasses, etc..) start to rub off. and in order to touch it up, you have to remove all of it. I would advise against using it on anything big.

Its a good idea for a temporary later over the front of vehicles (protective bra) for road trips. they make it in clear also.

I used it on a "temporary" fairing on my Duc. I also coated the rear/side panels, but left the gas tank alone. I was trying to see if I would like the CR style fairings but in black not red. The stuff is susceptible to scuffing and peels off pretty easily, so if you're just thinking of doing a temporary color change, it's great for that, but it isn't durable enough or long term IMO.

Like Kenneth said, areas of high contact get worn. The plastidip will stretch and tear as did my tank in a couple of days before I had a chance to put a tank pad on it. My grab bar has a knick in it from throwing my leg over and hitting with my boot and as Kenneth stated, in order to fix the knick I'd have to repaint the whole grab bar.

Painting is just like painting with any other rattle can. You just need to clear the surface really well to get the best adhesion. I don't have great painting stroke and I was covering the burnt copper color with white so I had to do multiple coats 4 or 5 over everything, totally about 10 cans.  I pulled all the plastics off my bike and just propped up the tank and covered the rest of the bike with drop cloth plastic. It's great that you only really need to wait 30 minutes between coats so it can be done really quickly. You can pick up the black and also white cans at Lowes for about 6 bucks a can. White is a pain in the ass to keep clean, because it's a matte-like finish dirt seems to stick to it and since it's not a smooth finish it doesn't clean easily.

I used the black spray on a plastic exhaust cover. It came out well, but as the others mentioned it does come off if it gets worn or rubbed. I was able to touch it up with so-so results using a small paint brush. Eventually I am going to peel it off and try painting it with bedliner spray instead. I also have a container of the heavy black plasti dip used for dipping tools, I am going to try dunking my footpegs in that a couple of times. I am hoping that it will help with the vibes...

Always wanted to see what my bike would look like in white. I REALLY like!

Planning on keeping mine yellow just because it's a bit more of a eye catcher for other people driving on the streets. I want to be seen as much as possible since I already feel like a tiny fly when I'm on the road, and that people in cars won't see me. Another reason for an exhaust,..I know.

Thanks! My bike is 10 years old with a ton of miles and I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a paint job and end up not liking it. I wasn't sure what color would look good with the silver frame. So for less than a hundred bucks and a few hours spent, I now know what it will look like. The best part is; had I not liked it, it wasn't/isn't permanent. I now feel confident taking to a pro and having it done in white. I just need to figure out how I want to lay decals/accents on it.

I loved the idea of dip since as you mentioned, you can always strip it back if you didn't like it.

Sad to hear about the fact that it peels so easy and attracts dust like a magnet. Either way  :1:

I did my Leo Vince exhaust. Holding up really well. Easier to clean than the metal surface.

No, it will leave your current paint intact. To get lime green you'd probably have to order it.

This is NOT an endorsement for this website, but they sell kits for doing cars. The only issue is large gallon+ size kits are not allowed to ship into California.

Interesting find, I've been looking at something like this for a few home and moto projects.

Anyone have experience with Hydro Dipping?

I used it to black out the emblems on my Tundra and the wife's Sequoia - worked great for that. I also blacked out the stock wheels on my wife's Sequoia and it looked good for a few weeks, but the brake dust is impossible to clean off Plasti Dip. It turn brown after awhile, so I opted to just have them powder coated. I have a buddy that blacked out the entire front end of his Audi Q5 and it came out sick. He uses a tire dressing to keep it clean.

I did my door handles on my 350z looks ten times better now. I do a retouch every 8 months or so. I would not do a whole bike though, maybe accent parts.
