It's got a BRP-Rotax motor @ 146 HP, Shai, you may need to trade up!

I don't know, but for some reason I'm being reminded of an SV when I see the front, looks like Buell is giving in to the mainstream!

Hey Dane, maybe they'd like to sell a couple of motorcycles. It would be a nice change for them.  :D

they're trying to compete takeout the jap bikes.
You guys are in for a run when I get this ;) (down the straight away that is ;)

They're not saddlebags, its Buell's first liquid cooled bike, so those are the cooling ducts along with a ram air intake.

Heres some specs for you guys to drool over!

Your used to seeing the radiator grill.  Buell does it a bit differantly.  They use a smaller grill and bigger scoops to force more air at the grill.
Remember, its 49% HD, so they have to be differant.

If you havnt ridden the bike, I dont think you have the right to say anything.  I dont mind all the joking around.  But kinda getting pissed in general people docking bikes they ahvnt ridden.

Anyhow, theres a reason for the selcetion of bikes out there, everyone has an opinion.  So if you havnt had seat time, shut your ass and stop talking!

I don't know if Buell is ready to 'take out' jap bikes, an R1 still has more HP and more torque!

Buell will never take out the Jap bikes.  Thats why I say trying.  The Buell/Harley V-Twin is one of the most in-efficient engines out there.  Hence the huge Ram air setup.

Its there Stab, but there still far off.

The efficiency of any of the v-twins is about the same. It's mostly in power transfer and gearing. They all have quirks related to design. A plus in one area has it's minus in another.

Example:

The Ducati Desmo design uses a cam to move the valve to the seated position instead of a spring. This is intended to compensate for the spring "floating" at high RPM, and the drastic loss of efficiency when the cam has to force the valve open against the force of the extended spring. Good. The cam had a tendency to "wobble" at high rpm's due top the rotational mass having it's own moment of intertia, causing the actual rpm (tach) to not match the engine mechanical rpm, resulting in timing errors. Bad. The new engine design uses a hollow camshaft for reduced mass for a stiffer shaft at rotation, resulting in higher RPM's with reliability. Good. This may or may not result in a higher incidence of broken camshafts. Bad.

I agree with Shai that some (not all) guys here have an eltist "if it's not (insert your brand here) it shouldn't even be on the road" mentality. I rode the Buell when I was looking for bikes. I didn't like the seating, same with the R1. The ergonomics of a Ducati fit me, and I saw the reliability from the standpoint of riders who were in the bikes. I'd love an F4 312. Same for an R6. The Daytona looks sweet too. A 1098, antique Norton like the one I squished, even a sport tour style for long distance 2-up trips. I'd love a STABLE of bikes, but that's not reality. I give Shai crap, but I gaurantee his bike would smoke mine. Mine is a commuter. Thats its job and it does it VERY well. My next one is going to be a naked super, and if I can find the engine, probably about 140+ hp, with enough torque to pull stumps. No plastic, no frills, just fast and clean.

Thanks Mike for explaining that and backing me up.
I have to add that the HD motors inificiany really lines in the inline Camshaft.  Hence instead of a 4 stroke cycle it becomes 5 or 6, I'm not 100%, but I know the pistons dont appose and in there lies the real inifiency.

I'll have to look into the inline camshaft. It may be something unrelated to power, maybe it's an issue with strength. Every time you change direction with gearing you lose, so ther will be some loss due to the fact that to be an inline it has to change direction more than once.
