EBR 1190RX vs 1199 Panigale
« on: 06/02/14 08:29PM »
The July issue of Cycle World did a comparison of the two bikes.  They tested the 1190RX against a baseline 1199 Panigale without the Ohlins suspension to make it fair.  1190RX only has the Showa BPF and shocks.

Panigale won by a hair (their words not mine).  The Panigale had a smoother engine, more mature traction control, and better braking.  The 1190RX was a better street bike by a long shot.  Way more comfortable, way more refined street ride thanks to milder suspension tuning, better heat management, and better wind protection, and finally a more comfortable riding position.  The 1190RX also beats the Panigale in the midrange torque by quite a lot, 5-18 more ft. lb.s from 4500 to 8500 RPM, but the Panigale has 6 more horsepower on top.

Lol seriously, like this is better looking??

They are both beautiful and less than 5% of riders have the skill to ride these bikes to their limits.  Beautifully engineered monsters.

Saw an RX on Goldenwest and Trask yesterday. I had to follow it a few blocks to admire it's stunning beauty.

I'd say I'm a bit bias as my bike is similar in appearance :D

Beauty is in the eye of the BEER holder! Although I can say I don't have a problem with the looks of either bike, I have been dry for weeks now!

I also like the silly, quirky, looks of the XB12R. I saw one in all black with dark cherry red wheels and it looked bad-ass.  This yellow one is not too bad but I'm not a fan of yellow.  You have to think of it as a modern Café Racer and not a sportbike that competes with fully faired, liquid cooled,  Japanese bikes.

I do agree with you.  Cycle World has touched upon the fact that these new bikes cannot be ridden to their limits any longer.  They've become so good and so fast that even at the track, you need the traction control just to reign them in.

CW admitted their test was inconclusive because they stated that the front rotor of the EBR 1190RX had a manufacturing flaw from EBR ramping up their production numbers (early production model).  So that rotor needed to be replaced.  CW admitted that even with the front brake vibration they felt the bike was a stunning track and street performer.  They specified to wait for the updated article online.

LOL!  Agreed!

Hey, I love the look of the Confederate Wraith B135.  On top of that I own an 1125R.  LOL!  Probably one of the most polarizing designs right up there with the Hayabusa (which I also owned).  I guess I prefer designs that are different and misunderstood is all.   ;D

Well everything on both is really nice except the headlight design and I think both have ugly faces.
P.S. I'm a big fan of Buells. LOve em.

Only thing ugly is the price :19: But I'm a cheap mo-fo :)

This thread sent me on one of those, "Let me Google and Youtube that for the next 2 hours," kicks. I like everything about it! Might consider buying one when they get ABS and workout the new production bugs that are sure to come. Or... a Panigale 899 :7:

I love them too for all the wrong and right reasons.

I know a couple of other guys who r Buell crazy.  You need to join us on our rides.  I used to own an '06 XB12R.  Rode with another guy who had Lighting XB12S Long.  The XB's have all the quirkiness of the Guzzi's only faster.   ;D
