08 cbr 1000 PCV install
« on: 07/13/14 09:39AM »
Hey there. I need input and maybe some help if possible. I bought a pc5 forvmy 2008 cbr 1000. I have never installed something like it in my life before. I want to try it on my bike so i kno for future reference. My bike will also need to be mapped. If you ever done this before how was your experience as a first timer? Or would you dyno the bike? Thank you

Most Power Commanders have downloadable maps that you can upload into your PCV (AKA PC5). Dyno-jet has some "stock" maps and typically some that are for modified set ups I.e. After market exhaust, air filter or other. Just download them from their website.

With most stock set ups the stock map is basically a fail safe so that you don't run too lean or too rich but the whole point of the PCV is to be able to fine tune it to your preference of performance or mileage and the best/proper way to do that is to have it done professionally. I'm sure that will lead to a whole other post of "Where should I take it?"

Note that the PCV has the ability to run two maps and with a contact closure you can switch between them. This feature is used in lieu of their 'Auto-Tune' module.

the last honda i worked on was a PIA... there is a website about some guy building a 08 cbr1000 race bike and it has pretty detailed and complete directions for alot of things about working on that bike. i think the site is untamedvelocity.com or something like that. i would read through that a few times and itll make it alot easier for you to install the hardware
