hahaha, moto guys are hilarious

So I've been storing a BMW G650x for a guy from the UK...he's coming back in 2 weeks and wants to ride/camp Death Valley!

My butt got a little sore thinking about it...so I panicked and bought a used Sargeant seat for a DL1000 for $95 shipped (= not a bad price)

I figure bring water, sandwiches/snacks, a tent, rain suit, sleeping bag/pillow, twin air mattress/pump, toilet wipes, toolkit, fresh socks/boxers, and tire plug kit?

A couple 1l MSR fuel bottles of gas - just in case - are a good idea too... Especially if you have a stove that's multi-fuel and can run on unleaded.

Death Valley is a great place to visit.

But I'm sure you know that it is one of the coldest places in CA in time of year.  Unless of course we have a heatwave in two weeks.

Not much different from around here next week lows in the 50's highs in the 70's seems nice to me  8) If a storm comes in low's could be in the 30's though. Better now then in August.  :36:

Comfier. Less sore. Flatter. Better for tall guys to scoot back. And omg riding position finally makes it feel like a "touring bike"

Madstad next!!

and for death valley, the trip is getting pushed back 1 week...will be higher 80's during the day, low 60's at night - perfect!!

it's going to be awesome! I met a few guys that are going to the rally this weekend

took it off road...and...liked it

unlike a couple weeks ago, the speeds here were much lower...it was turn after turn, so you'd be in 1st/2nd mostly

obviously in higher speed, knarlier stuff, it would suck...but I am perfectly capable handling it here

picked up a screw and needed a plug to finish the day...need a kit and pump to keep in the top case ASAP!

Had a Slime pump with me last time, but it failed me. Somehow I blew a 3 amp fuse while using it. Not supposed to happen? Put a spare fuse in but it didn't help. I'm puzzled.

@rogue - waiting for a cloudy day! I want to go up and enjoy a sandwich while looking out *above* the clouds. This will be your go-to spot if you venture out on a adv/dual sport this year. Google the Versys 300

@Koconut - could not miss footage of that gorgeous S10! And as you can see, the conditions got quite a bit worse the higher you went

@sligate - will do! once the days get a *wee* bit longer, I'll likely be going up every other weekend on my YZ

Breakdirt, I'm 90% sure I'm going to get the DR650. I want a traditional DS bike with long travel suspension, simple, and light, yet still be able to take me comfortably up to 75-80 mph on the hwy. Reviews suggest the
DR650 is THAT bike. I don't want a liquid cooled bike with any electronics or anything else that just adds weight. I just want to ride for the sheer fun of riding on a bike that requires very little upkeep.

I would like to explore the CA desert. Maybe go visit ghost towns (not Calico) and other points of interest
Not accessible by paved roads.
