« on: 08/16/17 11:16AM »
The last posted invite here was last month and that didn't even happen.

Does anybody besides me and a few members here ride? I mean ride outside of the OC? C'mon folks summer is almost over. Let's ride!

ACH/AFH Lunch in Wrightwood at the Grizzly Cafe.

KSU: 7:30 am at the McDonalds corner of Bake Parkway & Trabuco in the city of Lake Forest.
24511 Trabuco Road, Lake Forest.

I know it is a couple weeks away, but how does Saturday, September 2nd sound? I blocked out that day for a long ride. Not sure where but somewhere away from OC/LA area.

I do as long as it's not too hot :)

Weather is gonna be fantastic 92 at the worst mid 70's in the mountains a glorious August day.

Count me in. Idyllwild, Big Bear, ACH, GMR, Malibu, Palomar in that order would be my preference.

I'm fairly certain I can do something Just tossing out an idea. Not sure where to eat up there; anything but the Mexican place in Banning...

Well ok.

1FastRider, this Sunday is supposed to be the coolest day in August.  Maybe 80.  After that it's back to high 80's again.  Fastmoto, let's talk for that Saturday, Sep 2nd but I'm game.

How about we ride to ACH/AFH, brunch at Wrightwood at Grizzly's Café?

Thtanner, too hot and really crowded in Idywilde.  It's damn near impossible to get a nice run up 74 or the 243 making it very frustrating.  Join us to the ACH/Wrightwood run.  Way less cars.

I ride daily....from long beach to work...I need more lol

Issue is I work every other weekend...and if I have a weekend off I. Usually catching up on landlord issues or laundry or repairing bikes

I did ride to crestline, then down to del sure and back to LB a couple weeks ago (400+ miles)

But you are correct...I need more riding outside of OC

Maybe if you treated a human being that was having life threatening trouble with vital organs inside their own body with some respect, dignity and compassion.

You would not have this problem...........................

92 in Hemet is not exactly record breaking heat. As far as crowded it's alway a crunch near town and you can't do anything about that but 74 and 243 are not that bad. ACH will be nice though.

Yeah I ride to work daily as well.  And I also need more.  Riding around the OC is fun.....after 9PM or before 8AM.  After that and there are too many red lights and the summer freeway traffic is exhausting.  I can't wait until summer vacation is over for everyone so we can get some semblance of normalcy back.  Emphasis on "some".

92 isn't as bad but 82 is much nicer.

My proposed route is Angeles Crest Highway to Angeles Forest Highway.  Pick up Emma Road and a couple of other roads, basically the back way into Wrightwood for an early lunch at the Grizzly Cafe.  They take the route in reverse (since ACH is still closed not far from Wrightwood).  Easy riding in and out with minimal car traffic.  Well, until we hit the freeways on the way back to the OC.

I have no idea who or what you're referring to REPSOL.  I honestly hope you're ok because that is a weird post to make at 4 am.  I hope you can join us this Sunday.

ACH is open one lane with flagman during the week and two lanes nights and weekends no reason we can't take it from Wrightwood to get back.

Great!  It will be a very nice ride back on ACH then.  We can stop at Newcomb's Ranch.

This ride has to be THE BEST Angeles Crest/Angeles Forest ride ever!  I believe due to the timing of it, with school starting this week, many people stayed home to get ready.  As a result, the roads were mostly wide open.  There was some slow cars at the beginning but once on Angeles Forest and all the way to Wrightwood we encountered a whopping 3 vehicles that we needed to pass.  From Wrightwood all the way back to La Canada Flintridge almost every single vehicle we encountered, and there weren't many, pulled over to let us pass.  The icing on the cake was that the freeway ride back to the OC was nice and fast--very little traffic or lane splitting.  We couldn't have asked for a better trip.

Newcomb's Ranch parking lot.

A neat, farkled up DR650.
