Ride To GMR - Sunday 9/17
« on: 09/14/17 01:14PM »
We are planning to ride to GMR this Sunday, Sep 17th.  The route will include parts of Glendora Ridge Road.  Lunch afterwards.

KSU is 8:30AM at the Shell station on Lone Hill/Route 66.  All rider abilities are welcome.  We ride briskly but safely (we don't like tickets or crashing).

Leaving south OC at 7:15 AM, to make it to the Donut Man by 8AM.

We plan to get some donuts & coffee at The Donut Man here--8AM

Primary Meeting Location is the Shell station at Lone Hill and Route 66--8:30AM:

To avoid confusion, please avoid posting other rides onto THIS ride post.  Instead, open up your own ride invite on a separate post.  Thanks for understanding.

If at first you don't succeed, chuck it all in and go for a ride!

You'll want to meet on Lone Hill rather than Lone Pine.
Eureka Burger is excellent, you'll be glad you went there.

Its been a while since I've done the GMR loop.  What is the typical run through time?   I have somewhere to be at 11, wondering if I can go up with the group and back down on my own with enough time left.

Can't do the lake but you ought to be able to GMR to East Fork and back and get back around 11.

If we stay disciplined and be rolling out of the Shell by 8:30 am, you should be able to go up and down the mountain and be back by 11 AM.

Hmm it'll be pushing it.  As I have to be changed and elsewhere by 11.  Let me map it out, see if maybe I can make it.

Especially after all the bit*Hing I did on the other thread about people backing out.

From Shell to the junction/lookout @ GRR is about 45 minutes each way.  You could easily be back home by 11:00...

45 mins each way gives me a about half hour to scoot home to Orange, change gear, and drive to Placentia.   Just might squeak on through if I'm quick about it.  Let me mull it over the next couple hours, I'm still a strong maybe.

Worst comes to worst:  I ride up as far as time permits, I pull off and ride back when I feel its time.

Where in South OC are we meeting Rouge?

Not one to flake normally but wasn't feeling great this morning, so had to back out. Have a good ride!
