We plan to ride to Palomar / Borrego Springs this Saturday, November 11th.

The ride will begin at Ortega Highway, to Lake Elsinore, with a short hop on I-15 to Temecula for fuel.  Then we will head out onto Hwy 76, S6/S7 over Palomar Mountain, then onto S2/S22 to Borrego Springs.  Early lunch at Carlee's (really great hamburgers and beer battered french fries).  Then head towards Julian via Hwy 78.  The route back to the OC will depend on the group's stamina at that point.

Meeting location in the OC is the Starbucks Coffee in Rancho Mission Viejo:  https://goo.gl/maps/AYYVKSjE4sF2  (This link is for the UPS Store because Google Maps still doesn't have the Starbucks listed for some weird reason but it is adjacent to this spot)

KSU:  7:30 AM  Let's take advantage of Daylight Savings time!

We ride briskly but safe.  All abilities and bike types welcome.  Ride your own pace.

Post it up!

I also posted this on VFRWorld as I plan to take my VFR800 this time around.  They don't seem to ride in the Socal area there too much either.  LOL!

I think last time we did this route we said back between 2-3 pm and were correct.
"The ride IS the destination..." OOTV

The ride went really well.  The weather was perfect...not hot nor cold.  But being that it was a Saturday, there were A LOT of vehicles out and about, including bikes and the CHP.  We encountered a CHP at least 3x.  Thank goodness for the Radar Detector, because they had their radar on and banging away with their radar signals.

Here is FastMoto enjoying the view of Borrego Springs below.  I love this spot just to marvel at the desert.

The inside of Carlee's in Borrego Springs.  The place was full of bikers.

We encountered a ton of KTM's bikes.  This is one of my favorites.

We rode with another S1000r rider that was an Iron Butt regular and he took us all the way to Salton Sea, Salton City to be exact, and then back to Borrego Springs.  The road there looked like Afghanistan!  It made for a long but fun day.
