Any OCMoto members left who ride track?
« on: 01/22/18 09:42AM »

Just curious since the forum is back up and people are posting again :).  Who's planning to go where?  I'm going to Buttonwillow 2/25.  Maybe Chuckwalla 2/4.  Beyond that, not sure yet.  May squeeze in a minbike day as well.

Slightly along the same lines.  Anyone planning to do LAB2V this year?  If I can get my Honda running in the next few weeks, I will be hitting the trails and deserts hard this year, and would love to be ready by November.  I'd love to commit to at least one track day, but this dual sport is my current focus.  :7:

I would like to join that LAB2V thing also.

For now I’m doing my noobie ride to Split Mountain/Fish Creek Trail on Feb 4th. It’s all mostly flat sand wash riding surrounded by interesting geology. 12 miles off road, tops. However I plan to ride my DR650 from the OC to the trail and back to the OC.

Anybody else care to join? Let me know.

I am looking for a dual sport as we speak, type. LABA2V is on my radar now. Yet another reason to train and ride.
Hey we need a Husky emogee. I may be picking one up.

Right on!  After Feb, I still have 2 track days left with Let's Ride, so it will either be Buttonwillow, Streets or Big Willow.

A couple track days is definitely on my 2018 To-Do list. LAB2V would be fun!!! Perhaps a OCMoto crew can represent this year? I would be a strong maybe!!!

Did some corner work for CSS last year, hopefully I can do a little more this year too. For your corner working services, you get the use of the track while the students are on (must follow the same rules and lessons as the students) but "open session" during lunch, meaning no students and ride as you see fit, although sometimes instructors like to do some hot laps with us. I was able to get 2 days at Laguna Seca, 2 Days at Sonoma but only a half day in LV. Bike's water pump blew out on me so only got a partial day of track time. Still did my corner work for the remainder of the week end though, had to fulfill my obligation.

I may try and do some dates at Chuckwalla and/or Fontana but have to see how my budget looks for the year.

Glad to see other people are getting out!  I'll just keep this alive from time-to-time.

I'm officially confirmed for SoW 2/4 and Buttonwillow 2/25.  Will most likely skip March and get back out in April.

I think it's more like if your invited to do corner work  :)

Essentially what thepretender said. I was invited to the group and was accepted. You basically have to have several years of riding experience, preferably track experience to go along with it and some higher level of rider training is also preferred. Having taken the CSS class before and along other rider training, allowed me to get my foot in the door. Since you are there for both safety and for reporting any incorrect riding and/or not performing the lessons correctly, you need to be on your game. They really want people who are observant, good riders and have the experience and knowledge to relay what you observe. That being said, perhaps a track day organization would have a similar arrangement and seeking to volunteer with them might net you the similar results.

Note however, although no track fees are incurred, you do have to pay for your own food, lodging, gas and any other travel cost. Still beats a poke in the eye.

Oh haha cool...ya I have been on both sides of the equation where I will get "free" stuff but it was actually the result of time and experience...I learned that most times it's easier (and more fun!) just to pay for the track day LOLOL

Maybe I will do one this year while I still have fresh tread on the tires...and after I do wheel bearings, fork seals, and steering head bearings
