Maybe as well.  Putting the sv up for sale, only riding the r100rt from here on out.  Not exactly a brisk canyon carver.

Sorry guys, canyon carving with two hours of sleep after a 12.5 hour shift doesn't sound safe.  I'll see you guys on my next holiday off.  Maybe I'll post up the holiday ride next time.

What has become of our forum, people ditching riding to go to the movies! Creating rides and then backing out?! Come on guys, I just spent the weekend riding the track in Las Vegas, otherwise I would have been all over these rides! Today is playing catch up on all the things I left undone this weekend. Small sacrifice for living the life.

Flaking in socal is the norm....worse when you add the hassle of slabbing 1-2hrs before the fun starts...then even worse when you have to load gear + dirtbike + gas + pickup friends for a desert ride  :32:

I just go out and connect with other people who are already committed...worked the weekend but still went to Hot Imports Night in San Pedro after, then did a little dirty riding Sunday after work. Working 6 days straight soy next day off is Wednesday

Indeed it seems flaking out is a SoCal norm nowadays.  Or perhaps this is just the norm?  I recall my first attempts at organizing rides when I first started riding regularly.  Maybe the year 2001.  I got stood up quite a few times, often without ANY word beforehand.  People just didn't show up!  Mind you this was before the smart phone revolution so it wasn't like one could easily text.  I learned to ignore my disappointment and irritation....sometimes.

Pretty much.  You find the few folks that enthusiastically commit to ride and you stick with them.  After getting burned quite a few times posting on line, people just stop posting.  My guess is this is how offline groups form up.  It doesn't hurt to try making public invites though and my hat's off to those who do.

I was just giving a hard time to those who said they would and then went off to the movies instead! I wasn't directed toward you, this is TC's post! Hell even TC went to the movies...

Organizing a ride is harder than it appears. I've done so and found success and failure. I appreciate those who try.  Events, I agree are core to making the forum more robust and successful.

I apologize for backing out, at the time, there were two "maybes", I would have deleted this ride from the calendar if that was an option.  I also mentioned attending an alternate ride that probably wouldn't have happened if Doug and I didn't chime in.  Things happen with attendees and organizers of rides, but the least we can do is give plenty of advanced notice as a courtesy.

I don't always flake, but when I do, it's because I'm at work.   Working Thursdays through Sunday morning, and every other Sunday night into Monday morning, makes it rough to join rides.

How about some weekday rides?  Anyone able to ride Monday through Wednesday mornings?
