Annette Carrion was a beautiful young woman who worked for Motorcyclist magazine.  She died yesterday while riding on Ortega Highway.  Rest in peace Annette, you will be missed.

I just started to watch some of her YouTube post too, just watched one this morning before I heard about this. I have never really been a fan of Ortega and the more and more reports of incidents like this, it gets even less.

I followed her on IG since I first came to CA...she really loved to ride and did a lot to promote it for women. May she ride in Paradise, and thoughts and prayers to her friends and family.

That's insane to hear! I followed her on IG for a while but stopped once I gave up the sport. Social media creates a false sense of familiarity, but damn she seemed like such a happy person. Her mother died about a year ago and her father shortly after. I cant imagine what the remaining family is going through, but I wish them the best.

Very sad.. had too many close calls up there to ever ride up there again. Not trying to hijack the thread by any means but I actually came here because I drove by an accident yesterday and thought maybe it would be on here: https://www.ocregister.com/2018/04/01/fatal-crash-involving-motorcycle-in-costa-mesa-leaves-one-dead/ IIRC it was a darker sportbike, maybe flat black, CBR. There was a red Ferrari (maybe 458?) pulled over as well, with a handful of people sitting on a barrier as the police took measurements. Really tough to see..  :-\ Anyway, I don't think I've ever run into Annette but it's always sad to see one of us go in that way.

That's another part of what makes it so dangerous. Tons of traffic trying to get somewhere in a rush, using it as a cut through and not always staying in their own lane.

Very sad for both of these riders mentioned and a reminder for us all to choose our moments more carefully, stay focused and sharpen our skills at the track. Used to ride Ortega a ton back in the day. There are lot's of places where 75-80mph made plenty of sense to me. I think the added traffic and pavement quality has turned it into a scenic cruise for me these days.
