Riding Tips & Safety / Bake Pkwy exit HAZARD
« on: 09/04/16 06:43PM »
I noticed this evening when I was exiting the 5 South to Bake Parkway there was a big smudge in the asphalt that moved my truck about 3" to the left. It could happen at any speed, but there is a big like acid spill that melted the asphalt and made a big bump in the middle of road on the left two lanes so....... If you go through Bake Parkway shy away from that left lane because it has a nasty bump in it.

Kawasaki / I spy, a new Kawasaki... Z125
« on: 04/15/16 11:29AM »
I was Cooks Wednesday night for Spaghetti Night, and as I walked up (I caged it); I noticed what looked to be a GROM with a custom wrap. Nope.... ITS A KAWASAKI! As soon as I saw the DST plate and the taillight; I knew it was a Kawasaki. Then I noticed the Z mark on the side, and started snapping pics. This lil thing looks like a lot of fun. I saw two Z125's going up Bake the next day as well. I think one of them was this same bike. They're coming!  :45: :45:

A few weeks back I was swapping out throttle cables, which took me to the center of my engine, and had to take off a bunch of panels and such. One such part was my coolant reserviour. I noticed the color looked a little funky, so I looked inside to discover OIL IN MY COOLANT. I immediately knew this was a bad sign. I drained and flushed the system, but the damage has been done. I looked in my oil filler cap to find 'muddy' oil too. So, I made a call to SuperChicken. I trucked my biked to him; even though the bike runs and sounds just fine. He did a leak-down test to reveal that only when the engine is hot; the 3rd cylinder seems be be leaking oil into the cooling system. Sooooo, it seems my 2 options are to rebuild the motor or find a used complete motor. If anybody knows where I can find a good 2003 Z1000 motor; contact me, please.
I've had some really great times on this bike, and I still want to ride it. It has @ 76k miles, and I still have the stock clutch and battery. This bike is a solid Kawasaki.

I took these two pictures the last day I rode it....
I wanted to submit this first photo for the MOTM thing, but got distracted, so here it is, in front of John Waynes WILD GOOSE in Newport Harbor

I can't wait to get it back on the road. As I've heard around here, "Life's too short, not to be on 2 wheels..." AGREED

Misc / Cars and Coffee 7/12/14
« on: 07/11/14 12:38PM »

Cars start showing up at 5:30, and start leaving around 9'ish.  If you bike, you can park inside; enter, make a right and go by the coffee.  If you cage, park across Irvine Center or in the parking structure by the Taco Bell building, pretty sure there's a sign.

It's free and has rare and exotic cars (and some bikes) to gawk at, coffee and other drinks, sometimes food.  Bring cash.

When you pull in, be respectful and polite to the volunteers and spectators.  When you leave please heed the 'no burnout' signs.  I've seen more than one knucklehead get pulled over for exhibition of speed.

I'm going @ 7, and staying until 9
