In July 2016, a Tesla Model S in Norway rear-ended a motorcyclist while in Autopilot mode. The car failed to sense the vehicle ahead, and the driver failed to remain vigilant, despite Tesla’s warnings to do so while using Autopilot. The rider was seriously injured, but survived.

From the article: "...all ACC (adaptive cruise control) systems studied were worse at spotting motorcycles straying three feet, 11 inches or more from the center line than they were at spotting cars."  As if distracted drivers weren't enough, now we have distracted drivers relying on sensors and computers to keep them safe causing a greater danger to us on two wheels!  >:(

Great write-up and summary by Revzilla's Common Tread blog on the MCCS.

"...be sure not to ride faster than your skills when you’re out of traffic and enjoying a curvy road."

Guidelines:

1.  Find any screaming deal on CL of a motorcycle posted outside of Orange County, but must be in the US.  Think smaller market (i.e. Montana, Maine, etc.) for those hidden gems.  Price cap = $2,500

2.  The submission must be active and recent (posted in the past 30 days).

3.  Ideally, the bike should be in running condition, or at least, fully assembled (hint: barn find).

4.  The bike can be of any type (dirt, sport, bobber, scooter, etc.), but must have 2 wheels, and no mopeds.

5.  If the post screams Nigerian scam, those will be disqualified.

6.  All submissions are due by the last Friday of the month @ 4:59p, and will then be voted by poll by the following Sunday which closes @ 11:59p.

7.  There will be no prizes, but it will lead to some discussion and perhaps even inspiration.

8.  Don't be a dick!

Okay children of the '70's/early '80's, your dream has come true.  And while I'm not a fan of remakes, especially TV-to-movies, the motorcycle chase scenes look fun enough, and there should be a decent amount of ad-libbing to add to the funny bits:

Saw this trailer in the theater today...

Why does Hollywood, and specifically a big-budget, production studio dub the sound of a crappy, parallel twin over the sound of that magnificent, high-revving 1,000cc four?  :4:

Here's the way to S1000XR should sound at 3:25 or so:

Some interesting commentary following the article about merging etiquette.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/RV2JBbol2To" target="_blank" class="new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/RV2JBbol2To</a>

Would you?

a.  Leave well enough alone, and let karma sort 'em out
b.  Do as the rider did and flag down the police officer
c.  None of the above

Article here: http://www.motorcycle.com/features/what-would-you-have-done-lane-merging-edition.html

Merge on,

The well-written commentary at the end does illustrate an accurate point about the educational-level requirements for many agencies (I've tested for a few agencies myself), and eludes to a need for a revamp of policies and procedures for many departments.
