Here is the story short and sweet. It was memorial day I had stopped at the office to fix a minor computer problem the left for a quick ride and some lunch. I was in no particular hurry in an industrial area see pic

and in full gear and sure am glad I was. Headed west down Kalmus toward the right hand turn. Wasn't going fast and as I was going went to adjust my headphone cord. As I was approaching the corner still fiddling with the cord decided to give up lower my hand to grab the handlebar and lean into the corner see photo white arrow, it was at the last min no traffic and easy turn and all. Well I found I couldn't lower my hand "OH SHIT" then I was at the red arrow still tangled looking at the curb and in a panic :36:
this is when I froze and fixated on that curb. I remember hitting the curb but not a thing between that and finding my bike on top of me pinned, wasn't the full weight but could not get out from under. Could have been out up to 5-10 min not sure.

Sure I could have made the turn if I had pulled the left bar at the white arrow and turned one handed but wouldn't have made the turn if done at the red arrow. I could have used the foot break and lessened the impact but all I could see at that point was the CURB.

Here is where I hit the curb made the hole in the bushes and my bike landed.

After a few min of struggle I got out from under the bike. Looking back I was in shock, could move around in pain for sure but thinking I'll go to the ER after bike is taken care of. Called for tow and had a hour to wait. Took some picture and stumbled around. After about 40 min a fellow rider in a cage stopped took a look at me and called for paramedics. I was coming out of shock and feeling not so hot by now.

A few hours pass and a CT I can barely move and they still have a brace around my neck and am told to just lay still. The next morning and a trip to MRI (more than a full hour in that dam thing) and wait for report. The MRI shows 2 broken vertebra in my back but no organs have been hurt. Whole chest and abdomen bruised and swollen but every thing should heal with a back brace
for at least 6 weeks. Unfortunately or fortunately the MRI found a existing problem that C-5 and  C-6 needed to be fused bone growing and pressing on my spine needed to be removed now! So surgery 2 days later.

15 days later I have a huge bubble on my back where the impact took place and swelling and some bruising still, neck in brace and some pain. Starting to gain a little strength and stamina but not a whole lot.

New gear back and neck brace.

Waiting for disposition of bike most likely totaled. Nobody to blame just f'ed up dam that BMW is heavy when it lands on you  :35:

General Motorcycle Discussion / 1 year of OCMOTO
« on: 11/19/14 09:09PM »
It's been a year sense I joined OCMOTO. It was after getting my FZ1 wanted to learn how to ride the Canyons and didn't want to do it alone. I was pretty slow at first and didn't know what the f I was doing. My first ride was GMR and only briefly saw the group as once I rode up they were ready to go. I was hooked none the less and set a goal I didn't want to be the fastest but wanted to be able to keep up with that group. Well I'm not the fastest but I can keep up most of the time anyway.

Just wanted to post a thank you OCMOTO and especially those who a can call friend. This is a great site full of awesome people, THANKS :30: :7:
