This is one reason to constantly check your 6 when riding. Have people become so lazy that they no longer want to drive on their own?

^ That.

Good work!  Looking forward to seeing how you get it all done up.

I hope that she rests in peace and that her family and friends find solace soon.

There have been way too many of us that have died too soon.

knock 5 mph off your lane sharing speed and see how many more people move over for you.

Also - people are garbage trucks.

Giving people time to see you approaching strikes me as wise.  Ten over the speed of traffic and flipping the brights on now and then for attention worked pretty well for me.

Speaking of garbage, I recently noticed that when I set the cans up so that it's easy to grab them and toss their contents into the truck, the garbage man responded by setting the lids back on instead of tossing them into the ditch like he used to.

No charges for woman who fatally shot I-5 driver during road-rage incident, prosecutors say

A woman who fatally shot a man on a shoulder of Interstate 5 during a road-rage incident last month will not be charged, the Pierce County Prosecutor’s Office said Friday.

The 23-year-old woman acted in self defense, prosecutors said. The News Tribune has chosen not to publish her name because she was never arrested or charged with a crime.

Witnesses said the man, 60-year-old Bruce W. Jones, was upset with how the woman was driving her motorcycle Feb. 8 on the southbound freeway near the King-Pierce County line in Milton. He tried to box the woman in with his 2016 GMC Terrain, then got out of his vehicle and “aggressively approached her on the shoulder of Interstate 5,” the Prosecutor’s Office said in a news release.

Jones started a fight with the woman and at some point she head-butted him. Jones then slammed the woman’s head into a jersey barrier and took her to the ground.

As Jones tried to climb on top of her, she shot him in the chest with a handgun. He died at the scene.

The motorcyclist, who had a concealed pistol license, called 911 and waited for investigators.

If she had a CCW, she had to have some training in order to get it.  Glad it worked out for her.

Wondering if the rider lacked his M1 license.  That's pretty common.

Damn lucky!

I wondered about the wheelie, too.  Some bikes just tend to tank-slap...  It can be the tires, triple-tree offset, having the rake and trail set too short, or other things.  A bump or series of bumps can start it going.

Streetmasters is a solid school if you're looking to perfect your technique and survive on the street.  I spent some time coaching for them.  Walt really knows his stuff and his staff does as well.  You'll spend a day working your butt off on Horse Thief Mile.  It's a fun track, but don't expect to get to go fast until the last session of the day.  That's when they turn you loose.

Random question, but I just purchased a supermoto. Does anyone have any recommendations on videos or books to read about cornering?

Sport Riding Techniques by Nick Ienatsch is probably the best book on the subject.  It made a big difference for me back when I raced.  The Upper Half of The Motorcycle by Bernt Spiegel is excellent as well.

That is both well written, and well reasoned.

Avoiding the fight is the best option.  He'll be off the road soon, anyway.  Probably with massive hospital bills (should he be that lucky).

^ That.  She still hasn't been charged that I can find.  So...  It's looking more and more like a justified shoot.

I did notice that the EMT people pronounced him dead at the scene.  That means it was a head shot.  I've seen it posted that he had a dash-cam and that the footage of the incident was recorded, so that may have played a part (along with what the witnesses said).

Short answer: For lame people like me, who like that quiet stock exhaust, not so worth it.

^ True.  A lot isn't said in that.

Nice bike and good gear.  Wondering if she was an off-duty peace officer.
