Bikes For Sale / Re: FS 2008 CBR1000RR Track Beast

If you do some research, you'll find it's pretty common for track bikes to be sold without titles.  A lot of these bikes have often been off the streets for a long time (and should never be registered again as they are not street legal to begin with).  When he sends you the VIN, that's most likely what you'll find.  I don't even know who would register a bike that will never be ridden on the street to begin with.

My 2 cents, if you have some kind of concern about legality and/or DMV, I would buy a registered street bike and convert it to a track bike.  Of course, it will cost several thousands more to do so...

Of course.  Give him a call because he's not on here much at all.

I can appreciate the character reference, but the questions are legitimate, and the info should be provided, for peace of mind.

I can vouch for the man.  He's a regular at Chuckwalla and I bought his R6 last spring.

Is there a VIN on the frame, or engine anywhere?

History of ownership?

The mods look impressive, but I don't want any legal headaches..

Thanks!

I've tried it on the VFR wasn't so bad but the makes you lean forward so all your weight is on slim jim and the twins so not a long term position  :36:

Nice!!  I was out in that area yesterday but in the car.  Beautiful day!

If you have a small windscreen, it's not bad if you tuck in nicely.  Just not practical on the fwy without looking like a tool LOL

Same can be said for resting your ankles on the passenger footpegs.  I tried it once, and didn't care for the knees bent at a 45-degree angle.

Dang, that seems crazy uncomfortable??

****SOLD!****
The question is.....what's next?

You know you need an Ape :D .  That's what replaced my Daytona.

I'm fortunate to have both but if I could only have one bike, I'd probably have to stick to full fairings.  A lot more relaxing on the fwy.

Don't change a thing :D

Right on! That would be a pretty epic day!!!

There may be a little snow in December but the bigger storms typically don't happen until Jan-Mar; Big Bear also makes snow.  Just keep an eye on the weather forecast; if there is a big rain event coming in, it usually means snow in the mountains from now on.  Also best to hit it up during the week because both places turn into a zoo on the weekends.

Also, there are dirt trails from the desert on the north side of Big Bear that go all the way up the mountain.  That should give you dirt and snow riding in one day if you time it right.

No, you have to do their school, but the cost difference between BYOB and ride their bike is $300.

Yea, but it's kind of apples and oranges. You'll be out min $675 and you're taking a class. I did it last year and their classes are great but you shouldn't treat it as a track day.

Flap up north charges $350 for their Ninja 300s.

Anyway, Buttonwillow was awesome 😁. This may just be my favorite track!

I think the problem is he's asking too much for a Ninja 300. For the same $300, CSS will loan you a BMW S1000RR and you're only liable for up to $2k damages.

You can rent their bikes without doing the school?

It's a Yamaha R3 though; $2k damage pretty much means you totaled it :D

No takers?  :42:

It says all groups are sold out on their website...  :4:

Beginner group was still open earlier this week but sounds like that's full too. Kinda crazy on a Friday.

If I total the bike, who pays for it?

He's just doing "bro policy" for now. Break a part, pay for the part. Very reasonable guy. He can work on the bikes himself.

A friend of mine has a track prepped 2015 Yamaha R3 for rent this coming Friday at Buttonwillow.  $300 all-in (gas, tires, warmers, drinks, etc.).  (you do need to pay for the track fees).  Contact: emailhenryyip@gmail.com

Great guy btw!  I bought my current track bike from him; I'll be out there riding it  :42:
