Heard about the 18-year-old girl from Oxfordshire who is on course to make it in the macho world of motorcycling?
Well you have now. Georgina Polden is her name and she has become the first female to win a race in the Aprilia Superteen Challenge - a fertile breeding ground for motorcycling's future stars, with two-time MotoGP champion Casey Stoner and Britain's Cal Crutchlow both past winners.
Polden's potential is causing widespread excitement and the hope is that she could become the first woman to compete in MotoGP.

Double MotoGP champion Jorge Lorenzo has signed a new two-year contract to stay with Movistar Yamaha.
The Spanish rider, who won the title in 2010 and 2012, follows team-mate Valentino Rossi, who recently also penned a new two-year agreement.
Lorenzo told YamahaMotogp.com:  "I strongly believe we can fight for a third title together."
The 27-year-old heads to Indianapolis this weekend fifth in the standings, 128 points behind leader Marc Marquez.
Marquez and Dani Pedrosa have signed two-year deals with Honda, leaving Aleix Espargaro, sixth in the world championship, as the highest-ranked rider yet to confirm his 2015 plans.
Yamaha team principal Lin Jarvis said: "The 2014 season has been a tough one for Jorge so far but I am hoping that the confirmation of this new agreement will give him the peace of mind to be able to focus 100% of his energy on the remaining races.
"For 2015 and beyond we have no doubt that Jorge will be a strong title contender and we will do our very best to provide him with the materials and the support he needs to be able to realise our shared ambitions."

MOTO GP
Briton Scott Redding has signed a contract with Gresini Honda that will see him move up to MotoGP from 2014. The two-year deal with the satellite team means the 20-year-old will ride a "production" Honda.

The Marc VDS rider has a 21-point lead in the Moto2 championship, after taking two race wins this season. Redding told BBC Sport: "It's definitely the right step for me, I've got to look to my future and I think to go with Honda is good."

Racing Headquarters / Moto GP Crutchlow has a new ride
« on: 08/01/13 08:53AM »
Cal Crutchlow has signed a two-year deal to ride in MotoGP for the factory Ducati team in 2014 and 2015.

The deal, to be announced on Friday, will see the British rider in a factory team for the first time in MotoGP.

The 27-year-old, who has taken four podiums with his Tech 3 team this year, had initially wanted to stay with Yamaha but wanted assurances of a factory ride, which were not given.

Crutchlow will replace 2006 world champion Nicky Hayden at Ducati.

CHULA VISTA — A man accused of purposely hitting a motorcycle rider on the San Diego-Coronado Bridge in what has been described as a road-rage incident pleaded not guilty Wednesday to felony charges.

Phillip Michael Eggers, 24, of El Cajon faces two counts of assault with a deadly weapon — a car — and one count of child endangerment.

If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to nine years and four months in prison.

Chula Vista Superior Court Judge Katherine Bacal set Eggers’ bail at $250,000, after a prosecutor argued he was a danger to the community and a flight risk. Court records show Eggers has previous convictions for burglary.

The incident was reported about 5:40 p.m. Saturday when an off-duty San Diego police officer and other witnesses saw a blue BMW M3 being driven erratically on the bridge.

Deputy District Attorney Julie Lynn said that Eggers was driving the car, with his girlfriend in the front passenger seat and her 3-year-old son in the back seat. The prosecutor said Eggers cut across the traffic lanes, speeding at times, and narrowly avoided hitting other cars.

While driving next to the motorcycle, Eggers and the rider exchanged words, Lynn said. The defendant then turned and drove directly into the motorcycle, throwing off the rider and a passenger. Both were injured.

The off-duty officer followed the BMW off the bridge to Glorietta Boulevard, where the driver stopped. The officer held Eggers at gunpoint until Coronado police arrived.

Defense attorney Brian Mason called the incident “an unfortunate accident” and said the motorcycle may have been in the blind spot of Eggers’ vehicle. He said Eggers pulled over soon after exiting the bridge and has cooperated with police.

Several family members, friends and other supporters attended the arraignment. They did not speak with reporters afterward.

The prosecutor declined to discuss the condition of the two injured victims outside the courtroom.
