I ended up being there around 11am with 9 other guys for a memorial ride.  Ocmoto was down for me, had no idea you guys were up there.

Site was down for me too almost all of Saturday, so nobody here really had a chance to see it.

We were first on top of the mountain in an empty lot at Mothers. We saw the first people come up and took off around 9:00AM. It was a tad chilly, but I guess that's better than being too hot?

Glad you got to enjoy the mountain, it was really nice yesterday.

Sorry Tyler had to hit hwy 140 onto Yosemite this morning.   ;D

Don't lie, you aren't sorry  :32:

It was a great day out! 5 riders total. The same ride is posted in 2 weeks, maybe some OCMOTO peeps will want to cruise by!

Looks like a total of 4-5 riders, myself included. I'll be there around 7:45

Time for another Palomar Sunday...

If you are not comfortable with mountain roads, decreasing radius turns, etc, then this may not be the ride for you. You are responsible for your own safety at all times.

Route / Plan
1) Meet at Pala Gas Station @ 7:30AM / KSU @ 8AM
2) Ride up Palomar S6 to Mothers Kitchen. I don't plan to eat here, though. Keep your own pace as we'll wait at Mothers for everyone.
3) Ride down Palomar S7 to Miner's Diner for brunch in Julian
4) I will return via 79 south through Temecula. From there you can hit the I15 and head home, wherever that may be. You can also split off when we intersect with 76.

Note that I do cross-post this ride at VFRDiscussion, a Honda VFR specific forum.

Doug, just wanted to thank you again for this ride. It got me reinvigorated to get back on the saddle. I've since slapped on new tires and have hit Palomar at least 4 times since.  :27:

Properly maintained, they'll go a long time.

It's like any older vehicle if you are able to do the maintenance work yourself and keep up with it you'll be fine, otherwise it'll start costing you.

I personally wouldn't hesitate to rock it myself :D

I was given an action camera to review, so I used this ride to take some footage. It gives a good idea of how nice out it was, at least. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdmSTVYPCfQ

It was just us, but boy was it a nice morning on the mountain. Traffic was minimal, and the weather was absolutely stunning for the whole ride!

Not opposed to Julian. Either way I'll be riding!

I'm a big maybe, are you ok with a last minute show/no show?

And I'd be more inclined to say yes if you bring your '98 :)

The 98 needs tires :( She needs to stretch her legs soon, though. Just gotta budget that in.

No worries, I'm KSU @ 8 unless someone posts a "wait for me." :)

"UNOFFICIAL" Rides / Palomar Sunday - Sept 9, 2018

I am going to start doing my "traditional Palomar Sunday" rides that I used to do. I'll try to post one at least once a month.

Is anyone interested in joining? If you are not comfortable with mountain roads, decreasing radius turns, etc, then this may not be the ride for you. You are responsible for your own safety at all times.

Route / Plan
1) Meet at Pala Gas Station @ 7:30AM / KSU @ 8AM
2) Ride up Palomar S6 to Mothers Kitchen. I don't plan to eat here, though. Keep your own pace as we'll wait at the top for everyone.

4) I will return via 79 south through Temecula. From there you can hit the I15 and head home, wherever that may be. You can also split off when we intersect with 76.

Time / Temperature / Location
7:30-8:00AM / 77F / Pala Gas
8:45AM-9:15AM / 76F / Mother's Kitchen
10:00AM-11:00AM / 85F / Miner's Diner
12:15PM / 96F / Temecula

I'm thinking gmr or maybe malibu. Maps says it takes about hour and a half from my place to pala gas so dang that's a long one.

I got tired of the long trek to Palomar so I moved closer. I feel the struggle.

Think I am going to do an early morning Palomar run on Sunday. I want to get out before all the traffic and cyclists, as well as not deal with a ton of traffic to and from.

Happy to join if you guys want. Thinking Pala Gas @ 7

Be happy thtanner already decided on the dealer I suspect he's having T31s installed and the Bridgestones are a bitch to get on.

Dunlop Roadsmart III this time. Supposedly very similar to the T31 performance wise.

Thtanner...I can do it manually (nomar bar) but Iím here in IE and I also have similar stand like posted above. Now idk if you already ordered your tires but Iím only 5-10 mins from chaparral.

Super appreciated! I had since set an appointment with Temecula Motorsports (and talked them down on the price.) They do seem to be a fairly typical dealer, but hopefully they should at least have all the right tools and will treat the bike with a little respect.

I will keep that in mind for the next round though.  :8:

I've used Arney's several times.  26371 Beckman Ct, Murrieta, CA 92562  Nice people and very reasonable prices.
Temecula Motorsports is great, and inexpensive, only if you buy the tires from them.

Gary
Thanks for the recommendation.  Gonna call Arney's tomorrow. I got a set of S21's online already

Recent Yelp reviews were super sketchy. I don't think I am going to trust that shop with my babies.
