I saw your bike on CL, I love the reliability of the SV's and '05 is a solid year. Had a customer get 117,000 out of his before he lost seating on the top end.

The Blue Angels personalization is probably a little too much for people, but I think it's interesting.  Good luck with your sale~

I've maxed the bike out at GPS-confirmed 193 with the internal beads. I didn't run name brand either, I went with non-biodegradable alternatives and have been reusing my set for 4 years in at least 7 tires.  Burnouts, Whoolies, track days, commute, canyon, low-speed, and high-speed.

Modern wheels / bearings / name-brand tires are so light it hardly even matters to balance them in the first place.  '80's 3-piece steel rims with tubes and steel-belted radials, now that's another story.

The largest effect is a tire that isn't out of round.  If you lock up the rear repeatedly you'll have flat spots.  If you drop the front wheel at 120 while riding out a wheelie for 30 seconds, you actually lose a small portion of the front tire and a puff of smoke from a recording third person will confirm it.

Off Topic / Re: I got burned, Need advice

I had a motorcycle "on standby" while the owner "got the funds together to get it going again" ... The total bill was $500.  I had to move the motorcycle 3 times when I moved over the course of two years.  I monitored the battery, kept it on a tender, started it up once a month, and never heard from the owner. I would call every couple months and if the phone was picked up it was the same story about "getting funds together." I lien-sale'd the motorcycle and sold it.  Went through all the legal proper journals.

Got a furious phone call about how I was supposed to hold onto the bike and how I was a terrible person.  I felt troubled causing conflict to another person but remembered all the conflict and trouble caused for myself over the last two years which helped brush my shoulder off.

Can I get the license plate number and the date codes on the tires?  It's a real deal-breaker for me for track bikes.

OCMoto Special:

I'm going to give it straight, no chaser for you lovely people:

I've had this motorcycle for about two years now and have ridden it once a month for about 10 minutes to keep the battery and fluids fresh.  I have five other bikes.  I purchased this bike from the previous owner because he was moving and I had planned to resale it for profit. I no longer care about profit and am selling it for what I purchased it for and put into it to break even.

It's fully serviced, rideable, and rough around the edges.  It burns a slight amount of oil near redline, but does not impact performance.  This may be from the lighter base oil viscosity I'm using.  A majority of "leaderbike" riders do not utilize high RPM and will never notice.

With my restructured life, I haven't registered the bike in my name (I have the clean signed off title from the previous owner and will include all of my information within a bill of sale to accompany the motorcycle.  I'm asking as much as I can get from Craigslist but want to deal with real people instead.

Buy it and ride it, break it down for parts, use the engine in a kit car, put full insurance on it and park it in Chula Vista, whatever you desire to do with it I no longer have the energy to invest.

Down to go! I'll bring my Sucati~

My Mad Max bastard child runs warm with the YZ250 front fender blocking the SV650 radiator so I'm going to just run twin baby rads and/or wings on my current setup.

Does anyone have spare radiators / blown-engine dirtbike they don't care about / spare wings to grab some air in a box in the garage?

Maybe we... can ... work ... something .... out  :12:  :12:  :19:

Those are all great prices, but still not as cheap as Rotella T6 full synthetic at Wally World @ 5.34/quart (when you buy the 1 gal jug).  And you can even get it in 5W-40...  :29:
Uh Oh, this may turn into an oil thread now... ;)

I ONLY USE WHAT MY SERVICE MANUAL RECOMMENDS. ALSO WHEN SHOULD I CHANGE MY OIL? ALSO WHAT'S THE BEST OIL? ALSO CAN'T TURN OFF MY CAPSLOCK. THX GUYS. ALSO WHY IS THE OIL LIGHT STILL ON AFTER CHANGING OIL+FILTER? HOW TIGHT SHOULD I MAKE THE BOLT? WHAT'S THE EASIEST WAY TO REMOVE THE FILTER ALSO?

I suspect there is a whole life full of bad decisions that led up to that moment they ended up stalled out on the freeway...

Literally Laughed Out Loud.  Comment Win of the Thread.

Just received my Renewal Notice and I feel like the price doubled.

$93 ($82 "Registration Fee" + $1 "License Fee" + $10 "County District Fees)

... For a 2004 Suzuki SV650 that I've already owned for two years.  Huh?

Is this normal?

Gloves / Re: Lightweight waterproof gauntlet gloves?
« on: 01/24/17 05:36PM »
After six (6) months of use, every single moto gauntlet glove I've used has failed. No accidents. No water-logged strain. Either ripped stitching or torn leather.

Alpinestar was the worst of the gloves I've used.  Their $300 GP Tech's offered the same failing thin leather and when I visited their compound in Torrance they denied warranty repair/replacement because I didn't have the original receipt, even though I had the receipt and original box from an online vendor.  After protest I accepted they wouldn't replace the gloves and asked to speak to an engineer to inform them the leather needed to be thicker on the next generation gloves to which they also denied me a conversation.  Previously, their SP-2 gloves failed on me in an accident which resulted in the skin and nail torn off my pinky, exposing bone, and subsequent loss of function in the digit. I will never buy another Alpinestar product again.

Sedici (Cycle Gear Home Brand) also have the same 6-month fate but they have bent over backwards to replace damaged units and maintain my business.

Interesting.

CorseRacing scammed multiple customers down in Oceanside with his previous motorcycle shop, verbally harassed multiple members here (including myself), and committed Fraud when he created a false persona/motorcycle and submitted a false claim to the Bureau of Automotive Repair against my old shop. Then he started a new "business venture" and changed his name to CycleVIN here on OCMoto.

Why do people continue to scam hard working people and fellow motorcycle riders?  Lowest of the Low...
