when i commute on my bike i try my best not to break 75 just cause i know they will single me out.  Note that i commute at 3am, so flow is like 80+ easily and even in my car the cruise control gets set at 70-75 (fj cruiser) cause i have already been nailed on the way in going 80 while other cars were passing me.  Im too cheap to deal with the tickets and being that there isnt really any traffic im cool with sitting at 75.

Thanks!  Google Maps doesnt work on my office comp but i will take a look at it when i get home!

Anyone know when they usually close ACH for the winter?

The closure is based on when the first good snowfall hits, there's no set time.  It's been closed in the past when there's heavy rain also.  It closes from Islip Saddle to Grassy Hollow.  There's a post here somewhere where I mapped out where it closes.

Thanks

fudge ACH.  With all the debris on the road, I'd rather just be off road.
haha, there was a little bit of debris but it actually isnt that bad, I have been on much worse.

You can try this (see map) or rather than go all the way down ACH to Wrightwood, go down Angeles Forrest Highway to Sierra Highway and follow the route from there. It would be shorter but still quite fun.

I love that ride too. And in answer to your question, yes there is a road out of Wrightwood, but not for your street bike. It's more of a dirt trail that only 4X4's and dual sports are recommended to use.

Yeah great road!  Thanks for the info!!

Thought I would share a quick video of a ride i did with a friend last friday 10-11-13 through ACH.  It was a AWESOME time and the first time i have been through ACH.  Cant wait to do it again! ride was a bit chilly, road was a little dirty due to the storm last week but all and all it was pretty easy going.  I do have a question though, i continued straight to the 15 from wrightwood, is there a road that goes up and over the hill from wrightwood so i dont have to take 15 back?

Didnt post it up on here because it was pretty last minute.

Hey guy had wife and kid in the car...... once you throw that in the mix all bets are off in my opinion.  Yeah it was handled poorly on BOTH sides, if he would have just slowed down and let the pack pass, all would have been fine, if the riders didnít try to 'teach the cager a lesson' all would have been fine.

But, if I found myself in that situation, my wife in the car with me (I donít have a kid) and a group of bikers coming at me in a very aggressive manor, I would probably do something similar.  If I felt my wifeís safety was in danger I would do whatever it took to get her to safety.  Same thing I would do if someone broke in my home, I would use whatever means necessary to protect my family.  without a seconds hesitation.

Again, they BOTH handeled the situation wrong, but as they say hind sight is 20/20.  Just sad now that riders have ANOTHER black mark on our records in the gerneral publics eye.

this will go one of two ways, either that will be the last biker that driver ever cuts off OR the next biker he sees he will run off the road.... not really great odds for us....

i went from a 250 to a street triple and love it, plenty of power to play with and a really even torque/hp curve.

OK, another idea, which could have possibly worked in my case if his bike wasnt total junk and he didnt crash it.  "casually" run into him (i dunno take your dog on a walk if you see him or hear him comming). start off a convo with the old "hey i ride too" then ask about his pipe, compliment it (good old ego stroke) and just casually mention oh yeah my neighbor asked if i got a new pipe cause they heard you coming then saw me.  A way non agressive way to say "your pipes are loud and people are complaining to me"

Or you could just say nothing hahaha.  If your not going to get in trouble, (assosiation) and you can deal with the noise, i just say live on.

I had a similar situation.  If you live in an association (like i do), give them a call, let them know you have recieved complaints and its not you its Joe Blow over at xyz address.  (I would find out where he lives).  If you ever have a chance to talk to him casually mention that folks complained to you thinking it was your bike, if you dont have that opportunity dont go out of your way.  If you get complaints, point them to the guy, give them the address and tell them to call the association.

Thats what I did, only difference was it wasnt noise it was the guy was riding like an ass-hat (45+mph through the neighborhood, reving, burnouts etc) and leaking some major fluids in the parking area.  He had a red 90's ninja, lived one street over in our complext and is about my age, I have a new red triumph, so i am assuming folks just thought it was me.  I had 4 neighbors come up to me over a 2 month period telling me i need to slow down and a letter from my association (that is when i called, and sent them pictures of the leaking bike and my bike and gear in my garage, the guy only work a helmet and it was gold flake).  I let everyone who complained know it wasnt me (even showed two of them my bike in the garage then pointed over the to POS parked out front).  After the last complaint, I saw the guy the next day by the mailbox, so i suddenly needed to get my mail.  I casually mentioned I saw him riding, he immediatly got defensive and but i cut him off and said, 'yeah i have the red triumph' (he thought i was gonna bitch at him).  he then went into "well i totaled it doing a burn out two days ago... haha.... ha ..."  I told him at least he wasnt hurt at all, PROBLEM SOLVED!

But yeah, if you live in an assosiation thats strick (like mine) i would call them and make sure they are aware of the issue and that it is not you, or it could just end up being a headache.... wouldnt even bother talking to the guy unless you run into him, otherwise he will prob just go defense and nothing will be accomplished.
