Wish I could make it but I'll be up here where somebody ordered another 4" of snow for Saturday.  On the KTM demo I was stuck behind a noob while trying to evaluate a Super Duke, pissed of the ride leaders when I passed his ass. Did get to ride 3 KTM's that day so it wasn't all bad.

yuck...I grew up in that, did not need it for 3-4 months of the year!

although made for some fun hooning when it was fresh

FYI this weekend is at mission motorsports

F dude let's drink some beers in the garage and read 'em...was watching some old youtube videos of saddleback MX park and kind of felt like the golden age of motorcycles/dirtbikes was 60's/70's/80's

I was born 30 years too late...

Knuckle head douches closed many tracks...I feel like saddleback MX Park May have had some too

yeah I'm moving closer to work this year to end this 405 madness...going to try cycling distance but will have to see if I bump into my customers too much or not...if I do, I'll just move one town over, which would still take the freeway 90% out of my commute...then sell the truck (no hov access anyways) and get a ford fusion energi (with a surf rack) which gets 50+mpg anways...better than the bikes...and you can get a class 3 hitch for it.  keep a plated dirt bike to putt around town/ride off-road, an economical street bike (like the ninja 500r) for canyon runs/mostly everything else, and just rent super bikes/touring bikes when I use them 2-3 times per year (I only want to tour spring/fall anyways).  keep AAA, and just rent a pickup truck or trailer the 1-2 times/month I head to the desert.

8
same...hardly see them down the 405

motorcycling is a dying industry...millenials can't afford bikes nor enjoy being outside the cacoon of a car

I see a commuter every now and then...still tons of people on meet up, facebook groups, and in LA

9
Haha wonít really fly today...but if April and August are still single, PM me!!

I rode the versys 650, z900, z900 cafe, and 650r

ya wasn't too crowded, I basically test rode bikes back to back for 2 hours

route did kinda suck (if they went farther south they could have had some open stretches in more industrial areas), but I heard they will be at Del Amo orange county in a week or two...route there should be better

11
Man, today? Perfect temps and little traffic this AM...I was tempted to leave work and just ride lol

Bikes For Sale / Re: Ninja 500 Kawqasaki 2005 $600

Excellent.  So Happy to see the Ninja found a good home.  :)

when you sell a bike to an ocmoto member, you are selling it into a community....of these jokers  :32:

new tires mounted!

and since my winch is acting up in the truck...I rode it back...in the rain...on brand new tires  :32:

rear:

front:

surprisingly, even on brand new tires, in the rain...wide open throttle in a straight line did not break the tire loose

4) How is the testing applied? db meter 19 1/2 inches from your exhaust pipe tip (same level) held at a 45 degree angle. Engine rpms held steady @ 75%.

the facebook misinformation is a struggle...people keep posting the wrong info LOL

where did you read about the 19-1/2" at a 45 degree angle being specific to bikes?

https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes_displayText.xhtml?lawCode=VEH&division=12.&title=&part=&chapter=5.&article=2.5.

^^ says regarding sale of new vehicles, it's measured..."which produces a maximum noise exceeding the applicable noise limit at a distance of 50 feet from the centerline of travel"

bobs muffler shows this from CCR1036 - but does this apply to motorcycles?

(b) Microphone Location. The microphone for the sound level meter shall be at the same height as the center of the exhaust outlet. The microphone shall be no closer to the pavement than 8 in. (203mm) when the exhaust outlet is lower than this height. The microphone shall be positioned with its longitudinal axis parallel to the ground, 20 inches plus or minus 1 inch (508mm plus or minus 24mm) from the nearest edge of the exhaust outlet, and 45 degrees plus or minus 10 degrees from the axis of the outlet. For exhaust outlets located under the vehicle body, the microphone shall be located at the specified angle and at least 8 in., (203mm) from the nearest part of the vehicle. For exhaust outlets that make an angle of 45 degree or less with the longitudinal axis of the vehicle, the microphone shall be outboard of the exhaust axis. For exhaust outlet angles of more than 45 degrees, the microphone shall be on the side of the exhaust axis to the rear of the vehicle.

Bikes For Sale / Re: Ninja 500 Kawqasaki 2005 $600

haha, I read the reviews...here's my low-level 15 minute google sesh:

rear:
$63.30 shipped - IRC Road Winner RX-01 - 3.5 stars on revzilla with many reviews stating that they don't stay warm very long, poor grip, but good tread life
$67.82 shipped - Shinko SR741 - 4.4 stars on amazon - many comments of "good overall tire for the price", good traction, while 1 review said poor tread life, most others said they were on par or better than sticky tires
$68.88 shipped - Kenda K671 cruiser tire - also good longevity, relatively good grip
$72.99 shipped - Michelin pilot 61502 - can't find any reviews
$76.88 shipped - Avon Streetrunner AM83 - minimal reviews, but rated well

front:
-$52.58 - shinko SR740 - rated well, mates with SR741 rear

I also ran Shinkos (granted different ones) on the Vstrom 650...excellent handling in turns and pretty good tread life. The Ninja 500R is on-par power wise, so I am confident it will be a good tire choice. The Busa, however, in its rightful duty as a marvel of machinery, is getting another Michelin Pilot Road 3 mounted for $190 + mounting  :o

much thanks! also a pleasure talking to you, very smooth transaction.

starting off with a replacement left turn signal - $22 shipped on ebay

https://www.ebay.com/itm/09-Ninja-500R-LEFT-FRONT-TURN-SIGNAL-ex500-500-oem-indicator-turning-lens-C4/303016738707?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649

bike will likely get an oil change and hand cleaning this weekend

ordering new tires soon and new a new rear tire for the Busa

17
much thanks!

it's been so inconsistent and the memes surrounding "you can change your gender but not your muffler" are unfounded. looks like loud cars are getting popped and loud bikes will still get ticketed, just not the $1,000 instafine

80db on a motorcycle seems a little low though...

Gear For Sale / Re: Kendon Trailer
« on: 01/11/19 07:39PM »
dammit I just bought a Ninja...do I need a Kendon?

was thinking about selling the truck and going to a Ford Fusion Energi

19
any loopholes?  :32:

looks like I'll be happily switching commuter duty to the Ninja with a factory exhaust rather than the car alarm sounding Busa with the Yosh

20
honestly I think there are quicker responses in facebook groups

i think sc has a  9-5 now and only does bike stuff occasionally for friends
